So Much Happening at Chopperline!

It has been a busy couple of weeks in the run up to Christmas for staff and students.

Here is a sample of what has been going on.......

- Our first Royal Oman Police student, Harith passed his CPL(H) flight test today with our in house ATO and Group Chief Pilot, Ian Paull. Harith now progress onto NVFR, mountain, hook and instrument ratings. Well done Harith!

- Chopperline gained CASA accreditation this week allowing us to train students for their Fixed Wing Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating. Well done to Mark Munn and the Fixed Wing crew.

- Brett Gallard transferred from our Heliwork Kununurra base this week and joined the crew at our Mackay MPT base. Brett is now flying the Longranger and will be shortly endorsed on the Bell 222 & 430 with a co pilot instrument rating. Brett was selected for the position from our in house candidates and shows the groups commitment to moving our people up the 'ladder'.

- Chopperline graduates continue to be successful in finding employment, even outside of the group. Charlie Elliot is now working for Cloncurry Mustering, Martin Miller with Geelong Helicopters and Tim Flanagan with B&B helicopters at Fitzroy Crossing. Well done Gents!

We also have additional highly experienced rotary wing instructors joining Chopperline in 2010 to cater for the strong demand. More on that soon.

Fly Safe.

Off to Work!

2 recent Chopperline graduates Phil Carpenter and Andrew Boniface left Chopperline yesterday all smiles after completing their Helicopter Flight Training to work for McDermott Aviation, based at Cooroy, Qld.
Phil and Andy also completed their IREX and ATPL exams in record time, here at Chopperline.

The guys will be assisting as co pilots in the Aerial Fire Fighting role during the fire season on the B204/205 and B214 Helicopters. It is wonderful that the relationship between Chopperline & McDermott Aviation allows our graduates into these sought after positions and speaks volumes of the respect that Chopperline graduates are afforded by the industry at large.

Well done Phil and Andy!

EC135 Endorsements for CFT Instructors

Early today, our Chief Flying Instructor Tub Matheson and senior grade 1 instructor, Kurt Brumley, left for our Gladstone base to be endorsed on our Eurocopter EC135.

They will be endorsed by Chopperline's Mark 'Jayfer' Evans and Matt Feather, our senior base pilots at Gladstone. Matt & Jayfer came to us as Eurocopter 'Tiger' instructors.

We anticipate that Tub & Kurt will be away for up to a week while the gain their endorsement and corresponding Marine Pilot Transfer command time. Tub and Kurt will then be used from time to time as relief pilots at both Gladstone and Hay Point.
This experience will further benefit Tub, Kurt and our students, given the ongoing exposure to high tech multi engine IFR helicopters is the way of the future in our industry.

Latest graduate becomes a Bell 430 Co Pilot

Craig DiLizio a recent graduate of Chopperline has just commenced full time employment with Mackay Helicopters, a member of the Curry Kenny Aviation Group.

Craig excelled at both the theory and flying programs here at Chopperline and was a stand out to be selected to step straight into our IFR Bell 430 as a co pilot, conducting Marine Pilot Transfers, a huge feat considering he had no aviation experience prior to his course at Chopperline.

Craig showed tremendous enthusiasm and impressed all of his instructors and the admin staff.

Well done and good luck.
